THE ANGLICAN CHURCH

The Anglican Church in London, Ontario was well in place before any formal instiution was put in place. Those who settled in London, Ontario in 1796 brought their religion, specifically Anglicanism with them.

London was founded primarily on British settlers who were members of the Church of England. They originally set up small buildings in which to pray. There was no formal church in London until the founding of St. Paul's Anglican Church in 1835, and there was no established minister in the region until Rev. Cronyn came to London.

With the establishment of St. Paul's Anglican Cathedral, and with the influx of Protestants, and specifically English immigrants settling in London the Anglican faith has expanded. There are a variety of Anglican churches within the London community, each with a rich history and commitment to their congregations.
